An article published in The Washington Examiner on Wednesday, September 15, 2018, reports that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating an ingredient in facial wash that contains the chemical “soy” as a potential carcinogen.

According to the Examiner, the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition is reviewing the chemical’s potential for human exposure.

The FDA has not yet announced any further action, and so far, there has not been any indication that the chemical has been tested for safety or effectiveness.

The FDA is currently investigating the ingredient’s potential to cause cancer and human disease.
